featured project wins big at the 2007 addy awards
While working with Larry Najera of Najera Design + Associates, i had the opportunity to flex my creative muscle and had an exciting year full of creative challenges. Those efforts led to several Addy awards this year. Among them was a project i am very proud of. We were tasked to design and conceptualize an electronic banner for The Grand Opera House in Macon, Georgia. The Grand Opera House requested a great big vertical and horizontal electronic banner to build for the front of the theatre that would add to the beauty and history of the famous southern landmark.
After primary research and design, it was decided to give the marquees a classic design honoring the 40's and 50's of entertainment. Lots of bulbs, lots of neon were utilized for the design so that when construction is complete, no one traveling in downtown Macon, Georgia would miss it.
Among the challenges of the design, fully rendered 3D models were constructed so that the design could be fully realized by compositing the 3D renders on to actual photographs as to leave no detail behind. Here's an example of the results.
My thanks go out to Larry Najera for working with him on such a rewarding project.
