Featured Project: World War 1 Era German Albatros D.III Biplane Fighter Page 2

Page 3 starts the process of texture mapping, or painting the Albatros D.III.

Painting has begun with the fuselage. I've constructed the bare wood mapping as sort of a blank slate to base future non-fiction planes on. The D.III had bare wood skin and i've tried to come as close as possible to represent that.

As far as the base wood paneling goes, i've decided to go more minimalist and paint the panels more uniformaly as opposed to several derivations of panels. Even though i am painting her as a veteran fighter, still i wish to represent her as a plane where her crew took as good a care as possible.

Much of the base painting is 80% complete. And I'll be starting the supporting struts and wires.

Much of the aft section of the fuselage is being rebuilt due to some enlightenment via some really great references from Aaron Weaver of Over The Front Magazine.
